  • National Alopecia Areata Foundation

    If you or someone you love suffers from alopecia areata, be sure to visit the National Alopecia Areata Foundation's site for a wealth of information, education and to learn more about the NAAF Registry.   NAAF's Ascot Fund can provide human hair wigs valued at $300-500 to alopecia areata patients who qualify financially.  You can select your wig from us or another reputable wig vendor.  National Alopecia Areata Foundation  For Rochester, NY area NAAF support group meeting information, click on "Local NAAF" button at right. 

  • American Cancer Society's Look Good, Feel Better Program

    If you are experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment,  I encourage you to check out the free American Cancer Society's Look Good, Feel Better  Program.  Learn skincare, makeup, wig tips and scarf-tying techniques.  Designed to help you address the cosmetic challenges you may be facing right now such as dry and sallow skin, hair loss and brittle nails.  Recieve a wonderful kit of products donated by major cosmetic companies like Clinique and Estee Lauder.  These classes are offered once or twice a month (in the Rochester, NY area - may be offered more or less frequently in your locale), last about 2 hours and are scheduled Monday mornings or evenings.  You must call your local ACS chapter to register.   • Sustain, Inspire & Survive

    This non-profit organization assists breast cancer patients in the Monroe County, NY area with financial, educational and emotional support.  Founded by breast cancer survivor and good friend Andrea Caruso.  Any person going through the battle of breast cancer treatment in need of financial assistance can apply.  SIS can provide grants for financial support of any of the following: Rent/Mortgage, Utility Expenses, Vehicle Payments, Childcare, Groceries, Pharmacy Co-pays, Uncovered Prosthesis/Medical Clothing, Wigs (purchased through Alternative Hair or similar reputable source) and Transportation. Still available: the wonderful 2008 calendar featuring 12 area breast cancer survivors and their stories. Incredibly moving! Proceeds fund the organization's grants. www.sustaininspiresurvive.org

 

  • I'm a Kid Foundation

    I'm a Kid Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization supporting children with hair loss from cancer and alopecia. The foundation increases public awareness, offers resources and support, and provides great programs to enrich the lives of those affected by hair loss.
